Newquay Ladies Hockey Club was established in 1965 by founding members; Wendy Kennedy & Mavis Warman along with Jackie Miller, Jane Rumble & Jill Bishop, following in the footsteps of the earlier formed mens side The Newquay Saints.
Playing early matches with a local scout hut at The Godolphin playing field as a base. Both teams moved to Newquay Sports Centre in the early 1970's and for more than 30 years - Newquay Saints and Newquay Ladies provided good grass roots hockey, fielding up to 3 sides each on a Saturday.
They were also the proud hosts of well supported mixed hockey events of the Jack & Jill Tournament and Mixed Easter Festival with teams travelling to take part from all over the country.
Unfortunately early into 2008 the Saints side disbanded.
The ladies side carried on, becoming 'Newquay Hockey Club' leaving the door open for a mens side to return. Sadly after securing funding and working hard to have an Astro pitch at Tretherras School, the Astro was resurfaced as a rubber crumb, deemed not playable for league hockey. They have since had to move to play league matches at Penair School. Newquay Hockey Club hope they can return to Newquay in the future.
Today they field 3 womens teams and a newly established mens team; the womens first XI play in Division 1 South and a second XI and third XI in Trelawney 1. The mens first XI play in Piran Division 2. They also have a thriving junior section.
In 2025 we celebrate 60 years of Newquay Hockey Club.

We offer junior sessions at St Newlyn East for children aged 6-13. Sessions are led by Level 1 and Level 2 Hockey Coaches with experience coaching junior players at all levels. These sessions are both fun and competitive.
For children over 11 we also offer senior development sessions at Penair School to support with progression to senior hockey.

We play in red shirts, black skorts and striped socks. for all your kit needs, visit Newquay Hockey Club on the TK website. You can buy playing shirts and other kit direct from TK. Playing socks can be purchased in the Teamo app for current members or via the Teamo Shop.

Throught the summer we run junior and senior mixed beach hockey sessions in Newquay. Anyone is welcome to join, if you have any questions, get in touch with our Fixtures Secretary or Junior Coordinator below!
